The Triple Point of Water Cell constitutes a reference value for thermodynamic temperature as a primary standard for defining a temperature value of 0.01 °C, being essential for the establishment and maintenance of the International Temperature Scale. Its production is carried out with water of well-known isotopic composition and high purity.
With this new cell, IPQ continues to guarantee calibration services with reference standards aligned with best international practices, contributing to the reliability and comparability of measurements carried out in multiple industrial sectors, notably in engineering, health, and the environment, reaffirming its mission as the National Metrology Institution.
